Have a chance to get a Colt 2000 with original box and 1 extra magazine, looks like new for $300. Good deal? What are your opinions of the gun if you’ve owned one? Thanks
As you know , it is Colts only wondernine - actually their ONLY high cap pistol .
Those qualities alone in boxed package make it worth 3 bills .
I do own one. chamber a round , and it will hit its target.
i am not a nine guy , but obviously a Colt guy .
it will always be one of my top five roll marks.
i know I would buy any very good condition, boxed Colt that I don’t have for 300
I've owned two; one polymer framed type which was a shooter for me and the other was the First Edition alloy framed. Both new in the box when I took possession. I personally wouldn't spend much more than $300 currently on a polymer one though. I like them primarily for the Colt history perspective and not necessarily for their shooting aspect. Collector gun? I'd say not much interest out there. They didn't do very well when introduced and still have that negative stigma association today. Plus the long, long trigger pull. Honestly the polymer AA 2000 is one of a few pistols I've ever lost money on when sold. Good luck.
I agree that the 2000 is not on many "must have" lists. But for $300 it's difficult to go wrong unless the gun is trashed.
My 2000 is a pretty nice pistol...while not pinpoint accurate it is service accurate. Colt should have not listened to their lawyers and left its design alone and it would've turned out better. Colt's letting an early group out with out of spec barrels was an unforced error that gave it a bad rep. It seemed a perfect storm of mistakes for what should've been a good gun.
