I met a hero of mine, and his 1911.

I met a living legend, David Hack; he was in Vietnam with General Ware and survived an RPG hit. He owns US Wings, a flight jacket business that supplies many contracts.
He showed me his 1911 that he carried.
I’ll see if I can post a couple pictures of it, but the serial # is 372770.
Any info on it is appreciated, and I’ll pass it along. I asked him if he knew anything about it and he didn’t.

A 1911 with that early a serial serving in Vietnam could have been rebuilt many times over. Not saying it couldn’t be original but the chances are slim. We need pictures to give any type assessment. Pete

Sarge is a very interesting guy and a true American hero. He used to have two 1911’s from his days in Vietnam, the one you pictured and one on an A1 frame. Both arsenal Re-do’s if I remember correctly.

For those who may not know, his full name is David Hackworth. The Wikipedia article about him is very interesting. He was awarded numerous medals while in Vietnam, including an astonishing 10 silver stars.

David Hack and David Hackworth are two unrelated individuals, Hackworth died in 2005.
