Colt Commercial 1914 trade offer pending.....

I was offered a 1914 Colt Commercial for my Python. I am not familiar with pricing and what to look for to make sure this gun is correct. I did search GB and prices vary a lot based on condition. Any feedback on original condition and pricing would be appreciated. Not a gun I would plan to keep. Wondering if a better move to sell a Python verses a 1914 Colt Commercial?

    pullstart,

What value do you have on/for your Python?

C 9736 has nice Stocks, Slide Stop. and possibly the Trigger. And it might have a very nice Barrel and magazine.? However. it displays some mishandling mechanical damage and apparently was subject to improper storage (possible holster damage?).

It might be better to "sell a Python".?

    Best Regards,

I agree with Stan. The finish and color don't look right and I've never seen bluing flake off like on the trigger guard. Additionally GM pistols don't generally bring as much as military guns though it could always letter to someone or some place interesting. Sell your Python and go shopping.

I was leaning towards passing on the trade offer and that's the push I needed to hear. I figure my Python is worth at least $1900. Thanks for the response guys.

If you are trying to gain money and don't plan to keep the 1911, you would be trading down.

The pistol doesn't appear to have much actual wear, but has been subject to something that removed the finish in places. Also someone tried to beat the safety lock out from the right side, and now it sits lower than normal.

    An easy pass.

The Python still has many years of continued use should you want to shoot it. Most collectors wouldn't want to subject an older GM to vigerous trips to the range. A Python that is currently NIB will continue to increase in value, however this GM is no longer in the same league due to its condition

Just the right amount of use/abuse for those that like their pistols in like new condition.
