I have two Colt Delta Elites. One was built in 2009 and the other in 2015. All I have ever shot in them are Buffalo Bore or Underwood 180 grain JHP or Winchester Silvertip 175 grain. I have had zero issues with either gun or the multiple magazines.

I also have a 4.2" Ruger Match Champion GP100, an S&W 1006, and a Springfield Armory TRP Operator 1911 in 10mm. I have had zero issues with any of the guns.

I have had zero problems with my Lew Horton Stainless Delta, but my new 9m Colt Competition is a different story. Same problem with most mags and ammo the slide not locking back. Colt sent a new magazine which didn't help. Replaced the slide stop with one from Fusion and have had no problems since. Good Luck

Yes, I use EGW parts on occasion. They're well made, well finished, and fit like oem. I do suggest getting an extended slide stop, much easier on the thumb.

Congratulations on getting a Delta. I have an older one and it is a fantastic gun. I didn't buy it new so I'm not sure how many rounds it took to break in but if yours runs as well as this one once it's broken in you should be very happy with it.

I think I've posted a pic of mine before, but here it is again. Bought it in 1991 for a song, I suppose 1990 or 1989 manufacture. Its plastic guide rod broke and was replaced with a full length Wilson unit, and it has tritium sights with hex screws in the grips. Shoots very well! Love me some Delta Elite!!! Big congrats on a great purchase!

    Mars,
Sounds to me like you have an overly tight functioning slide stop.............
