Series 70 Govmt Model front sight questions

I have a Series 70 for sale that I purchased new in 2016. I hated the sights so some time that year I had my gunsmith swap them out with Meprolight night sights. My understanding is that the gun originally had a .076 tenon front post and the new sights have a .125 tenon front post. Seems like everybody interested in this gun wants to swap back to original sights and they are asking me if modifications were made to the slide to allow for the new sights. Honestly I don't think my gunsmith modified the slide for the larger post but I don't know for sure. Would it have been possible to take down the new sight to fit in the smaller hole? Is there a way for me to measure this somehow? I've been trying to get a hold of my gunsmith to see if he remembers.

You should be able to remove the slide and observe whether it has been modified for the new front sight.

Remove the slide, take out the bushing and look - you'll see evidence of the larger hole drilled to accommodate the new tenon, as it would've been the easiest installation.

If this Series 70 is current production then I'd assume that the front sight tenon was .125.
If this is a 1970's-80's pistol then the fs tenon was .076.

Ken, thank you that helps a LOT. The replacement sights were .125. I contacted my gunsmith and he said that no mods were made to the slide or the sights and I was wondering how that could be. Well now this explains it!
