    Yes, it was called the Stedimor. Before Colt create the Match Target Woodsman lots of gunsmiths and target shooters created their own solutions to getting more weight out front. Stedimor was one of the more successful ones and they ran ads in the American Rifleman to sell these.

    I have seen several but all of them were held on by friction only, no barrel band.
