    Stumbled in to this

I was suppose to go to the range to test a gun with my shooting partner...A failure to make a turn took us farther South then planned...NO big deal as he needed gas.
Walked into the combination Convenience / Gas/Gun Store provided a pleasant surprise..

A Colt MKIV/ Series 70 Government, .45 ACP, in e/nickle aka Colt Guard, with a Finger Collet which appears never have been removed from the barrel as evidenced by a lack of proper cleaning. Gun doesn’t look to have been carried and after swagging the and mic’g the barrel it measures a tight .4505. No take down marks and barrel is clean as a whistle with no residue.. BUT i cleaned it anyway. Gun shipped early 1980. The unfortunate part...NO BOX, one mag.

Had the exact same model. Got it used at a gun show in 1987 and put over 5000 rounds through it before I traded it for an 1873 Winchester. You will love it.

The correct box would have had a "Colt Custom Shop Label". I have one NIB. Mine is all CG with no blued parts.

I am surprised Michael’s would have a CS label , curious - based on what ?
So if by finish , are all E Nick / ColtGaurds Custom Shop labeled ?

i would imagine Snidely or Mafd2 or 22Matt would obviously know - along with others

I myself do not care for Matte or Brushed Stainless , but I can tell and do like the EN/CG

I probably have seen at least 20 or 30 Governments in EN/CG , none with control parts in matching finish.
i think I would be happy with either , but yours sounds cool and seems quite uncommon

The blued parts and Pachmayr grips are probably correct.

There was one of those for sale in my area about three years ago. I wish I would have bought it, I like the contrast between the nickel and blue parts.
