    1903 USP find

I helped an elderly lady clean out her house so she could sell it. It was a lot of work but it's important to help out friends. I found some guns under bed and under random junk in cellar. I asked her if she wanted me to sell them for her. She knew I was into shooting so she told me I could have them. Here's the Colts.

Welcome to the forum. It seems you have been gifted with two VERY desirable and valuable pistols. The condition seems to be amazing. They may be worth perhaps $3,500-$5,000 EACH! Both appear to be general officer's pistols. Was the ladies husband a general? If so, there may be other items of provenance that could increase the value and add to the history of these important and historical Colt pistols. We NEED lots of good, detailed images of both sides and all markings. Do NOT entertain any offers until we figure out exactly what you have.

PS. You should add "USP" and/or "GO" to the title of your thread.

Beautiful handguns. That is a wonderful gift but I gotta admit I'd shoot them both and hate to even think of selling them.

Awesome. I would send her a cooked turkey and honey baked ham for the holidays. Amazing gift to say the least.

Wonderful acquisition. Please post close up pictures and ask your friend about provenance.

Please Do Not shoot them, they may not have been fired since leaving Colt. The serial numbers will help determine if they were issued to a general or CIC, G2 etc. Photographs, documents, military holsters, belts, extra magazines are all important. Considering the condition there may original Kraft boxes, numbered on the back. I would start by gently asking about her husband's job in the military. If you ultimately sell them you may want to consider giving the lady a substantial percentage of the sale.

Get that lady's info on them. Get archive letters ordered. Do not shoot. I dream of these kind of "barn finds."

If you don't mind sharing the serial numbers we may be able to tell you more about them.
