    Colt 1903 type 1

I am curious if anyone knows if you can put a half cock notch hammer in a 1903 type 1. The half cock hammer wasnt introduced til the type 3 models and i know the type one safety is held in by a screw so i wasnt sure if a later hammer would work in an earlier model gun. My guess is it would work but i want to see if people know.

Mine is not handy ( circa 1904 ) but I think I remember it having a sort of "Half Cock" position...

No it doesnt come with it unless it was put into your gun at some point and time down the line.

I've never tried it, but if the hammer has the same dimensions, I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. The very earliest Type I thumb screw variations don't have an opposing safety screw -- it came in a bit later.
