    identifying colt AR parts

Hey everybody! I need some help finding out some info on a AR-15 part found on GunBroker.

    https://www.gunbroker.com/item/848745120

The fella selling it says its a Colt SP1 upper with carry hanndel and no foward assist. My question is, did Colt ever sell any parts without the forge marks? To my understanding, that's the only way to tell if it is a Colt.

I'm making a Colt AR-15 Build and i'd like to have something a little different, So I chose a non-foward assist upper. Of course it needs to be all Colt parts
    Thanks for any help guys!

I know better than to say "all" or "every time" when it comes to Colt's, but none of my SP's from across the 80s date range are barren of Colt markings. I vote that the one listed isn't a Colt.

Definitely not Olympic. All of their uppers have the auto sear clearance cut and they never did the large pivot pin hole.

Last year about this time I purchased a SP1 dated (if I remember correctly) dated 1976, it had a forward assist upper. Research indicated that upper was not correct for the SP1. Further research to find the correct upper lead me to find that Colt did make uppers around 1974 - 1976 ( again from memory) without forge marks but All Colt uppers were marked at the barrel end right side under handle with 'C' and 'trangle with VP' (lightly stamped), they also had the small screw hole at the front of the receiver. I purchased that type receiver for my SP1.

That research was on the Ar15 fourm, searching for upper receiver markings.
