I think the best you can do now is to chalk it up to lessons learned and never use this "gunsmith" again in any fashion. Whether you choose to warn others about him is your choice. If he has a website that allows reviews...leave a well considered, non-personally insulting but accurate review. Don't say anything that can cause him to take recourse against you.

Actually, he did a pretty fair job of fixing that.

    I agree.

If you want to, you can keep an eye out for a replacement slide, but this one's serviceable, and working sidearms 'will' pick up the odd ding in their service life.

The repair isn't bad, but the sight installation sucks; look at the daylight between the slide and the sight. A replacement slide would have been easier for both of you (and you could then have a competent 'smith cut the dovetail).

Well I think I'll give it a good bath and put it on armslist, gunbroker. It's left a bad taste for me.

Regardless of the quality of the repair, or a cash settlement... He knew when you picked it up the first time it was damaged. He should of told you, And pointed it out. (IMHO) But I guess this goes to lack of integrity. And that is what would really grate me the most..... Maybe he (and his work) needs to be made famous.

You are correct. I’ll never go back to him again. He says I’m to picky.

Too picky? You only wanted what you paid for...no extras like custom slide damage at no added expense. I wonder how he would behave differently if that happened to him?
