Threads on SAA and 1917?
Does anyone know what the thread size and thread count is on the Colt New Service revolver,,The reason I ask is because I amlooking at a new service that needs a barrel,,And I happen to have a couple SAA barrels that need a gun .
In my pistolsmithing book by George Nonte it shows that the New Service and the SAA have the same thread diameter and thread pitch. The threaded portion on the SAA is .695" long and the threaded portion on the New Service is .900" long so you will have to turn back the shoulder and threads .205 inches.
This is the only reference I have and have no personal experience working on these models.
Thanks for the info Mike.
