    Heiser 413, 7 1/2" SAA

Picked this up at Tulsa last weekend. Good and solid. Darkened from the years, I guess from treating. I believe the logo will date this to 1920's or earlier?? Thanks.

All the Heiser maker's marks except the following one, existed by 1930 or soon after; as seen in a set of leathers marked for Arthur Heiser's daughter Mildred Purinton 'as a young girl' (and born 1922). This one is not amongst them:

So turnerriver and I expect it is later; perhaps as late as Keyston's acquiring of the name in 1950. There is no apparent reason for the many Heiser marks ever being created beyond the first one :-). Their history on vintagegunleather.com is a rough guide but it is not dispositive; that is, gunleather with any of those marks are know to have been made well after the dates cited there. Heiser's famous 457 holster for the FBI is a great 'canary in a coalmine' because we know it was introduced in 1939, LOTS of them have survived, and they've been sighted with all the marks on their backsides.
    Jackson and turnerriver like this.
