    GunBroker Category Search Habits Question

    Hi, all.

When I'm browsing on GB, it has long been my habit to first select "highest number of bids" in the category so I can see where the action is. I'm curious as to how others do it.

Well I use to type in what I was looking for, let's say "Star Pistols" and I'd get a listing of Star pistols. Now you get several pages of listings, not just ones with Star in the title but a bunch of various guns. It seems to me that the computer gurus that operate these web site have decided we need to look at whatever, rather than what we want. GunBroker doesn't even have Star listed as a manufacturer.

With the more common guns I just go to category / manufacturer / caliber / etc., except if I'm looking for a specific item, then I will type that in and get all kinds of listings because the search picks out the common denominator.

The GunBroker search and listing notification system has been destroyed by unknown changes. No longer does it return specific items as before. And it often leaves out the specific items sought. Why the change for the worse?

Almost every 'improvement' made by GunBroker so far has had the opposite effect!

I agree. The page layouts look like they were done by a middle schooler. I miss the old bigger photos. I wonder when they will start charging money for searching completed auctions?

The deals are to be found not on items with the most bids, but with those items that for what ever reason are not showing up in a search for the item. Either it is missed named or for what ever reason the gun broker search isn't including it. I have happened upon several of these over the years, but purely by accident. So ever though you have to very a lot of non related crap, I think a broader search can pay off sometimes.

I find that the "improvements" on Gun Broker are driving me away. I hate the non-related junk that shows up with every search. And the advertisements that show up in the margins are sometimes just disgusting!
I probably will not drop GB entirely, but will search it much less often than I used to.

I would guess their intent is to follow the well conceived plan of Wal-Mart.
Put the stuff that sales the worst in your pathway to stumble through in order to get to what you really want..... Never know when you might decide you really do want that C D of Karcrahions 3rd season.
