Hugh was a great guy, and earned a stellar reputation here.

Giving us an opportunity to perhaps acquire some specimens from Hugh's collection is a huge honor to use here at Coltforum. Thanks so much for that privilege.

Thanks, Just makes sense. He would of wanted nothing less. We cant wait to get some of these in the hands of true Gun Collectors and guys who really appreciate them.

Your father re-worked some grips for me over the years and the last pair was some real nice Mother of Pearl that I'd sent him. He profiled them so well I didn't have a thing to do when they arrived back here in Canada. I'm fairly sure he's still working on some fine Single Action Colt grips where he is now.

God Bless your dad. He was a fine gentleman with some real fine guns. Good luck with them all.

Please understand the task at hand and have patience as we work through this.

Thank you all again for your kind words. We look forward to sharing this with you all.

Gents, I wont use the term "Overwhelming" at this moment..but its been busy. Please be patient and we will get the list to you. After sending it out to a few I realized it needed to be updated with some important information to alleviate more correspondence. I am working that tonight.

For everyone that has reached out and provided support, advice and guidance, we thank you..

I am up for air at the moment...going back down...

    Thanks
    Hugh

wow, this is all news to me. i'm not around much and the last thing i heard about swamprat was that he had or was retiring from grip reconditioning. that was like a year or more ago i had no idea he had passed since.
sorry for your loss, he was a well respected forum member.

I may have missed it, but what are you planning to do with the Long Flute Colt SAA that Hugh had Dave Lanara restore? I think it had some Texas History to it.

H&C, I bartered two pairs of S&W K frame square butt grips to your dad in return for him refurbishing some N frame grips for me. One pair of grips he got off me were smooth finger groove grips kind of orange in color and dinged up. They were made to only fit a K frame that had the front corner of the grip frame cut off. These were made by Fuzzy Farrant or one of his contemporaries from southern California and pretty collectible, but only for someone with a gun with a cut frame. I only mention this so you know what you have and don't sell them off too cheaply, though I don't know how much they are worth.
