Went to Taylor's & Co. Open House...kinda went overboard...

Taylor's & Company had their Open House over this past weekend...I enjoy going but really went overboard. Taylor's sells maybe the best reproduction firearms of all retailers...a bit more expensive but the fit and finish is there. Everything was on sale plus they had their "Dinged and Dented" tent with a pretty fair amount of merchandise at much bigger discounts. The people there are also first class and truly believe in customer service.

In the dinged and dented area I found a replica of the Colt Burgess lever-action rifle. It's in .45 Colt which I doubt is historically accurate but it's the only caliber they carry the rifle in. The very minor mars in the stock aren't as bad as on new guns I've seen in gun stores at full MSRP.

I also found this replica of the Colt Lightning slide-action rifle. This is in .357 Magnum. They had several in different calibers such as .44-40 and .45 Colt but I chose this as it had the nicest wood. It was on the sales floor and I found a small mark in the stock and pointed it out so they reduced the price to the dinged and dented level. My only complaint is it's barrel heavy which affects its balance but the slide-action is super quick.

Here's where I ran off the rails...I spotted this 12-gauge Coach Gun...Taylor's "Wyatt Earp" model. It ended up coming home with me as well. It's well balance and super quick handling.

Then I looked over the dinged and dented tables again. I checked out this 1860 Army and has to ask where the flaw was. They had to find the box to see the tag explaining the flaw...it had a slight bit of filler on one stock...almost imperceptible...you could barely feel it more than see it. So...it had to come home with since it was at a discount far cheaper than I could find it anywhere else. Taylor's guy who does their action tuning fitted up a centerfire cylinder for me as these pieces were on sale as well and no charge for the fitting. Good people as I said.

Taylor's had a real event going. Besides all the sales they had a mobile shooting range set up...quick draw competitions...lunch on the house. It's always worth going to. This time was just a bit more expensive than I had planned.

Sir, we are no longer on speaking terms! Seriously, you made some great buys. I wish I was close enough to visit Taylor's sales. Waiting on range reports.

They're headquartered and distribution center is in Winchester, VA. It's not a fancy site...located in an industrial warehouse area. I live maybe an hour from there.

Nice guns... i really like the lightning rifles, i have a Beretta Lightning made by Uberti in 357, is yours made by Pedersoli hope you got a killer price for it. Let us know how it shoots the 357/38 are the ones that have the most problems cycling... the 44-40 because of the case design seems to work best in those guns. If its a Pedersoli you should be good to go.... thanks for sharing the pics they all look great!

Yes...the Lightning is made by Pedersoli as is the Wyatt Earp shotgun. The Burgess and the 1860 Army are Uberti.

It's only money and there's always more where that came from, just think of all the years of enjoyment you will have.
