As an Auto Mag Collector I think this thread needs Dirty Harry with his .44 Auto Mag from "Sudden Impact".

Let's see your .44 Magnum S&Ws. Here's my four-screw along with a badge I fished out of a pond near a saw mill in San Francisco.

Oh well if this thread is drifting to Anacondas and Automags

The top one is a Lew Horton edition 44 Mag. The nickel one is in 45 ACP.

The second new handgun I ever bought is this 8 3/8-inch Model 29, purchased in January of 1980 after an off-brand Virginian Dragoon, purchased new a few months earlier, didn't work out as a .44 Magnum choice.

    The Model 29 worked out.

Saw heavy use in hunter pistol silhouette competition for several years and continues to be used today.

I traded for my first M29 (8-3/8" N) in 1971, right after "Dirty Harry" was released
I traded a model 52 S&W and a 1970 Gold Cup. Not the best deal I ever made.

My first was a Model 29-2 Nickel with 8 3/8" barrel, all I could find available. Paid a whopping $350 for it, like new in the mahogany display case with all the tools and paper.
    Living a dream.
