These turn up ever so often. Had rather have $1.5 million in pre-war engraved Colts.

I think it is interesting too. If somebody has the money to blow on one of these fine. I find it no different then buying a 1.5 million dollar sports car.

These (or some very similar) have popped up off and on for the last 5-10 years. The 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 is as good a time as any to try again.
The way I read the story, they were machined from a large chunk of meteorite. The majority of Fe/Ni meteorites have a very large crystal/grain structure. This translates to hard and soft spots throughout. A meteorite is not a homogenous alloy, it is a combination of Fe, Ni and other metallic and non-metallic elements that crystallized out of a molten mass. The only way to assure a homogenous alloy is to melt the meteorite down and start there.

Weapons and artifacts have been made out of meteorites since ancient times. If you had King Tut's dagger I bet you could probably afford the pistols.

I definitely Tip my Hat to those Bladesmiths who made the Dagger for old King Tut.

The Pistols...I dunno, somehow, for me, it is a total "who cares?"

Seems like a waste of a perfectly good meteorite.

I agree with an earlier post, We are all made up of stardust that is billions of years old. We even breath air that is ions old, drink water that is ions old. I even shoot bullets that are billions of years old. This type of marketing hype just doesn't work on me.

Sports cars have a pretty large following, but not sure just how many gun collectors have an interest in the meteorite pistol. Was watching a vintage car auction and an older Ferrari that sold for $745,000 about seven years ago brought $1.5 million.
