Hats were a functional necessity...not a fashion statement like many today.

Where's all the fringes and rhinestones? Where's their guitars?

Not sure I have seen a photo of an outlaw with a Model 1878 Colt.

The lady with the broom reminded me of a neighbor across the street from me 45 years ago. Her "partner" was a no good drunk. One day he was working on a motorcycle in their backyard. He fired it up and drove it through the house and out the front door with her running behind swinging a broom_trying to knock him off his triumph! He later went to the big house for robbing a credit union. I didn't see him again for about 25 years. I was pulling into a parking space in a parking garage at a casino in laughlin Nev. My GF yelled stop! There was a body laying in the greasey parking space and I would have ran over it! I was driving a truck and didn't see him over the high hood. I got out to check him out. I thought he must have been rolled and checked out the area before checking him. At the same time a guard came up as someone must have reported it. I noticed he was breathing and poked him awake. He had a thick beard but I recognized him as my old neighbor. He didn't recognize me and I was going to keep it that way as I once had it out with him in his living room. He told us he just got in from Palmdale, was tired and laid down. Palmdale was where we both had lived. He was a real pill. Once someone fire bombed his house with a Molotov cocktail.

    Welcome!

Really fun to find those old photos- a kind of a old west time machine.

Yes the JRB Museum is in Pecos on the far north end of town on the Carlsbad highway right at the RR tracks. The hats you see are what they really wore along with boots that came up to the knee. Our ranch (north of Pecos starts on the border) goes back to 1894 and the old pictures we have all have the cowboys with hats and boots like that along with big mustaches to protect their face. Pretty ugly conditions out there. Winter gets to 0 every once in a while and in the summer have seen it at 118 with 50 mph winds!!
