    I just purchased a 1911 but not a Colt...

So here on the forum Gundeals puts out a thread now and again... tonight one was from Classic guns. A rock Island 1911 for $380.38 i mean come on i had to order one after hearing how long lasting and reliable these are... been thinking about building one lately. But for $380 No brainer. Oh where can i get cheap 1911 mags ?

Just because you got the gun at a smoking price, doesn't mean I'd use inexpensive magazines. At the very least, I'd use Colt mags but more likely my Wilson's. Give that pistol every chance it deserves. I bet with quality magazines, it'll run very well and treat you right.

    That is a great deal!

I bought one in 9 mm a few years ago and I'm not even a fan of 9 mm. But at $325 shipped I just had to try it. Shoot amazingly well, everything is tight and I've never had an issue with the magazine or anything else. I think with a better barrel it would probably be a tack driver in the 10 ring all day. But I'm not about to drop a few hundred into a cheap gun. Still fun though.

MecGar makes great mags at a very reasonable price. Greg Cote LLC is a good source on line.

Yep, what he said. Mecgar actually makes many of the magazines rebranded and provided by various gun manufacturers. They have worked very well for me in all kinds of guns, though in 1911’s I prefer Wilsons for carry or competition.

    No Problem...

When you find the time...post a pic of that new RIA 1911 of yours.

    Great deal.
The Tradin' Post has sold quite a few of 'em, and people like 'em.
My experience with mags is none of 'em are particularly cheap.
An inferior grade of mag can still be made to run right, but by the time you replace the spring, follower, and reshape & form the feed lips, you would be further in a hole than if you started with a decent one to begin with.
