    Mail order firearms from the PX

    If you're eligible to shop in the Exchange you can also mail order a firearm for pick up in store.

    The rules seem easy;

    Seems easier to me than waiting at the gun counter for store clerk to find a gun in their "system" and Hope they found the correct one you want.

    As a contractor you're PX privileges are limited to Immediate Consumables, not durable goods or quantity goods. https://www.aafes.com/exchange-stores/patrons.htm

    Interesting, never knew they are selling on line. Firearms sales are making good money for the PX/BX exchanges. Thanks for the info.

    I'm a vet and heard about the new eligibility to shop online at the Exchange website. Never heard that non-active duty are authorized to go onto base Exchanges. But a little research suggests SOME vets will be able to https://www.militarytimes.com/pay-be...ping-benefits/

    Good info, thanks!

    Everything I have been reading indicates that as long as I have access to the base I SHOULD be able to do in-store pickup. Am waiting official word from an email I sent AAFES but may just call customer service on my lunch break. 20% off firearms sale next month...

    They may have to escort you off base with jeeps and sirens going! All traffic pulls over to let the gun go by.

    I asked the clerk in the firearms section of a PX how they dealt with weapons leaving the store. I was told they walked the purchaser to their POV and instructed them to make no stops on their way off post. Since then I have seen a purchaser carrying an obviously marked firearms carton out the door, unchaperoned.

    I haven't found AAFES firearms prices especially competitive, although one does not have to pay sales tax. The in-stock selection is appropriately oriented toward a young customer base, so it is largely black plastic weapons, about which I could personally care less.

    Yep, that's true- most of them want Glocks etc. I talked to the sales associate at a local base and asked them to try to get a Colt SAA in, never happened- and later did the same thing "Try to get a Standard Manf. SAA in." I thought it would be cool for the young GI's to see some quality old school guns. It also never happened. I wanted to get my paws on a Standard SAA and check it out.

    Some of those young people do like old school weapons, the ones that think about it anyway... I ran into a young GI at the base range who was shooting a S&W 686, he had researched on his own and had decided it would be a good choice for his first personal H/D weapon.

    He had speed loaders and a good holster he had found a lot of info on line, youtube etc was teaching himself in a way and was doing pretty good. I complimented him on his imo much better than a tuperware pistol choice.
