The engraved USFA guns....specifically the Rodeo.

The two guns that made a perfect basis for a engraved gun was first and for most a China Camp. Gun came for the factory in the white and polished. Next up is the Rodeo I which just needs to be polished before engraving.

Guns that actually shoot extremely well prior to being engraved. My kind of tools.

Our first pair of engraved USFA guns. My wife's pair of 32-20 China Camps.

An early pair of USFA China Camp guns from USFA. Old one piece ivory fitted after leaving the USFA factory. The guns were engraved by Jim Downing, "the gun engraver" @ a *C* level, $1100 per gun in 1999. Thankfully we bought them already engraved with the ivory and unfired. A present to my wonder wife And I hardly ever shoot them

And boy howdy did they shoot!

25 yard groups off a bench rest.

Tracy eventually had them fully blued. Not my first choice but her guns. Likely John Bernard would have appreciated them though

Next up was a matte blued Rodeo.

It was the gun that easily cut cards at any distance I could see a card's edge. No question in my mind the most accurate six gun I had ever shot. Still, have yet to find one better.

It was new to me to have such an accurate six gun. The "Cutter" became the "Golden Unicorn" to make the point of just how good this gun really was.

Two more Rodeos. Guns that shot extremely well prior to engraving (don't all USFA guns?).

    Phil Quigley's work

    John Adam's work

    they do shoot!

Tomorrow a newly engraved, consecutive pair arrive from John Adams.....which got me started on this thread today!

But another Rodeo done up nicely. This one is a 44 Special I fit pearl to. As you can see Rodeos can quickly become a really bad habit

And the gun that started the process for me.....

I agree with the USFA guns being the perfect canvas for the engravers touch. The only engraved gun I own is a USFA lightweight conversion engraved by Brian Powley.

I've said before I'm not a big fan of engraved guns but that is extraordinarily well done and tasteful...no gaudiness at all. Simply pure class. And those stocks are magnificent!

Thanks gentlemen Craig? I don't own them all. As she likes to remind me on occasion, Tracy owns the 32-20s. The pearl stocked, gold inlay gun? I had that one made up specifically for a buddy who wants to own every 44 Special ever made. I was just trying to cure him of that obsession! It didn't. I should have kept the grips...….as it only slowed him down some.
