    Any SKS owners here?

I have had one since the early 1990’s. I bought my first one for $99 (bayonet included!) and subsequently sold it to a guy at work.

A little while later, I went into a shop that had crates of them on floor at $72.99 each. That one is still in my safe.

A few weeks ago, I saw the 16” bbl. version. It is a little banged up. But, the short barrel lured me. It was $360. Times sure have changed!!!

    Best,
    Charles

The shop I worked at used to buy them by the pallet for $19.99 per gun. The top layer of guns had strapping band marks cut into the wood.

First SKS I ever saw was a war trophy bring back from Vietnam. At one time even a big show like Tulsa you rarely saw more than one or two.

The first one I saw was in Viet Nam and the SOBs were shooting at me!

I have owned a couple SKS rifles, one full rifle and the other the short barrel version. The long barrel one I paid $91 for the rifle, cartridge belt, bayonet, oiler and 250 rds of ammo! The short bbl one I got for $125 with a damaged stock and magazine. I had a spare stock at home and just removed the 10 rd mag and used a hicap detachable mag. Traded both of them years later for a PTR 32 (HK91 clone made in South Carolina) also in 7.62x39! I figure that I made about $600 on the deal!

I've got a vet bringback with the dd603 and a letter from the vet. I like the SKS's, they are good shooters.

I have one, a gorgeous Russian piece that I purchased in the early 90's for around $125 I believe. I wish I bought 10. It was at a storage shed/gun store set up that certainly wouldn't fly in Cali nowadays. I was there buying a Gen2 Glock 21 and saw the crate of rifles sitting to the side. I had just enough money left in my pocket to grab one on impulse. Hindsight, I should have come back and bought them all...in the case. I haven't shot it in probably 20 years but, don't see myself ever getting rid of it either.

I have a very nice Rooskie I bought around that time. It's a great shooter.

A Yugo bought as my first C&R gun sent to the house. Well made and the cat ridge is easy.
