The Columbus OH store had several Colts listed on which prices had already been reduced. I found a Colt DA 45C on Guns America and went to stores website. I ended up purchasing the DA and a 3-5-7. The manager took an extra $60 off the total price.

Cabela’s, in the past, has offered a Veteran’s discount.

Cabelas is often the extreme of overpriced to under priced. It is all based on what the gun library guy paid. If some know nothing came in with a mint python and said they wanted 500 for, cabelas would probably sell it for 1300. Ok, the python might be a stretch, but they have a tendency to significant undervalue high grade side x sides and superposed. Sometimes they are just clueless on what they have.

The Colt revolvers I am looking at seem under priced compared to the local market and Gunbroker. If I wan't in the process of moving out of state, I would most likely be buying one or two.

If you can use your Cabela's CC, they have a coupon for up to $100.00 off firearms right now. I picked up a piece last week, used pistols marked on sale -10% and I used the coupon to save another hundo. My local Cabela's takes a while to put the new guns up on the website, so sometimes you get lucky and catch a good deal here and there.
Downside is that with new owners (Bass Pro) they offer zero refunds or service if the used gun does not function properly - they do zero work on them beforehand I was told.
Bottom line, don't entirely write them off, but if it is a good deal, hopefully it is, but as usual, buyer beware and know a good gunsmith - or just stick to folks you trust.

I bought a couple of guns from Cabelas online and was allowed to negotiate the price from one store. I had an inspection of several days and I kept both guns.

The 5% military/veterans discount on everything was standard policy at Cabelas prior to being acquired by Bass Pro. Shortly after that 'merger' Bass Pro put a stop to the discount on firearms and ammo. For some reason (maybe a lot of customers complained -- I know I did on a few of their surveys) early this year that discount was re-instated on firearms. On a purchase of $1500 - $3000 it makes quite a difference -- it did sway my decision to purchase several firearms this year.

Cabelas pays fair prices for guns too. My local Cabelas does negotiate on the prices but, I have found that you better look the guns over really well. I find something wrong with every SAA I look at. Some are minor and some are major issues. I have better luck buying Winchesters from them for some reason.
