    .45-70 bullet types, help.

I have 3 different bullets in .45-70 cases. Can anyone identify the weights and what they were for?

The one on the far right is probably the 500 grain rifle bullet, post-1879. Before that the rifle cartridge was 405 grains. Question: Did the .45-70 Gatling Gun use this rifle cartridge or something different?

The one in the center I have been believing all these years was a lighter bullet, 350 grains, for use in the Carbines. Is this true? Or is the center round the earlier weight of 405 grains?

The one on the left is totally unknown and is probably a handloader's creation. It has a very heavy crimp retaining the bullet. Any ideas what this round would be?

Note that these are in commercial cases and not Gov't.

    Thanks, keith45-70.jpg
