Ivory ! consensus of future value , what say ye

a question that I have in the back of my head is , Elephant ivory where will ivory in the future be heading too ?
Do you all think it is going to keep getting more expensive as time goes by or do you think it's going to taper off since it is regulated to certain states and interstate transfer.

I have noticed it is harder to acquire out of state but if you happen to be visiting in a state other than your residence you can purchase it no questions asked. then bring it home ( just crazy ) BS.

    what say ye ?

My guess would be it will continue to increase in price, but not by huge amounts; just incrementally each year. Synthetic Ivory has gotten so good that I for one will never buy elephant ivory again. It doesn't look any better, the feel is the same, and the synthetics are WAY tougher than Ivory.

Personally, I'd like to see the ivory trade put to rest. Sure there is legit ivory out there, but there is SO MUCH that isn't. For presentation grips, I like Walrus and Mammoth better. For a combination carry/presentation, the best of the synthetic ivory is the way to go.

The more laws they pass the larger the black market becomes. It only makes people want it more and drives up the prices. Just look at all the guns turned in under the bans.
This all started with one gun!

Real ivory will always increase in value, just like real Colts. Imitation ivory is to real ivory what Uberti’s are to Colt’s. The real tragedy of the illegal ivory trade is the burning of confiscated tusks. Not one elephant saved and the ones that are still alive being put in even greater danger. Instead of auctioning off the confiscated ivory to legitimate artisans and using the proceeds to actually help the worldwide elephant population they just piss away opportunity for feelgoodism, what a waste.

Sorry Pard but that's against the law. I don't like it but it is what it is until it changes. Ivory has been a paramount material since the Roman times and before. That will never change. Your story is an example of the law turning an honest citizen into a criminal.

I’m sure there will be a market for elephant ivory. But there are alternatives as well...

Nothing like mammoth ivory! 100% legal!!

Like there's a surplus of Wooly Mammoths running around the world today. I guess there's a distinct lack of effort by PETA and other activists trying to save the Mammoths. Give them time and they'll get around to it.
