My two best deals are Colts. The first one was $300 for a 1962 National Match that lettered being sent to a famous local gun shop on my birthday; the other one is a 1st series Woodsman, made in 1944 that was given to me by a close friend. It belonged to his recently deceased father and he had no use for it as he had no attachment to it. The other gun or guns he had meant more to him and he kept those.

My best deal was my 1985 357 mag Peacekeeper for 225 dollars because of the Black matte finish noone wanted it and the price kept dropping and dropping until I liberated it.My 1970 NIckel Detective Special for 325, thanks to bad pictures it looked like the nickel was peeling off when my FFL got it the nickel was perfect.Last my instructor's 1968 Detective Special I bought from his estate for 200 dollars. After a little work here is the way the group looks today Webshots Entertainment, the best popular photography

A Marlin bolt action .22 Magnum with a semi-decent scope, two extra clips, and several boxes of ammo plus a like new Coast to Coast 410 bolt action with shells. Gun cases for each. I think it was $65 bucks for the works. It was all I had on me at the time and he wanted to sell and needed the money.

There some white wax or something on the stock of the Marlin. I sprayed it with WD40 and it wiped right off. Sold the 410 for $75 to a cousin of mine a few years later. Had a lot of fun with that little .22 Magnum. Wish I still had it.

So far I guess it would be trading this

    For this

    strait across.

He never liked the Python and could possibly be more happy about the deal than I am. I miss that SR1911 but I can buy another one and they are still making them.

We all know they are not making any more Pythons.
Zebadiah, Tel and jgregory17 like this.
I fear that until a select few can profit from not treading on me, nothing will change.

Yeah I know, you should have seen my eyes when I saw that Python, looked as big as serving dishes.

I've had bad deals too, $800 Colt 1911 that developed the obvious symptoms of a chamfred slide - declared unfixable by Colt and every smith I showed it to. Special edition: Colt Silver Star. Got it used. Bye bye $850. (I'll get around to buying a nice looking slide for it sometime from Colt, but still.....)

But the gods were smiling the day I got that Python.

Pre-war S&W .38/.44 Outdoosman with mint Magna grips and humpback hammer at a small gun show for $700.00. grips and hammer are worth more than I paid for the gun, but the best part is I absolutely love the gun!
I hate rude behavior in a man. I won't tolerate it.
