    .22 cal ammo manufacturer

In the basement of an old log cabin farmhouse, I rescued a 2nd gen Colt Woodsman Target pistol. It has some ugly rust pitting here and there, but not in any critical areas. (I'll be parkerizing to help hide some of the smaller blemishes, but will still easily see the bigger craters.)

Stuck in the magazine were 5 rounds of ammo with the manufacturer markings as in the attached photos. Anyone know who or where these came from? The 'XR' is a .22 short and the 'A' is a .22 long.

I'll answer my own question, somewhat. XR is Sears, Roebuck and Co from the StaKleen series/era. Sears also has some "A" markings, but I need to do some more research.

Visit: 22box-id.com>USA>sears It is a .pdf file with an interesting history of Sears ammo.

Most gun shops are set up to do tank bluing, but not phosphating. Why not just have the surface sandblasted as for phosphating and then blued? Looks the same except for color.
