    Colt SPORTER II that I bought new in August 1984. It's the first version of the Sporter II, R6400 I think. Old style sight and no forward assist, 1 in 7 twist barrel....

    Thanks for the info. I suspect that it may not have been altogether "right" when it was new, as far as the shape of the bolt head at least. Doesn't seem like I have shot it all that much to have worn...

    Can you shoot 32 Short Colt in a 32 Long Colt? I have a yellow box of Western 32 Short Colt ammo. I'm not sure how old it is or what it's worth, but it looks to be in excellent condition.
