If you can afford it, I too would recommend getting a letter for your revolver. That old girl sure has the look of an old police revolver based on the overall "patina," wear and barrel length. I...

I have a similar AS in 32-20. I agree with some others here; a factory letter might be very interesting.

I stand corrected on my previous post about unlikely use by police. You get information on this forum that is not in books. I agree a Colt letter would be a good idea. Jim

The only known agency-stamped .32-20 revolvers (Colt Official Police as well as different S&W models) are those issued by the Pennsylvania Railroad Police. See attached, a 1931 specimen. That...

A lot of .32-20 revolvers show up in the South, especially the Southern Appalachians. As a young deputy sheriff, I was known to carry my S&W .32-20 when working dispatch. This was 1976-78.

In that era, 6" was the common barrel length for police.

I have a 1922 AS in 32-20, 6" that was carried by a small town Marshall for some years prior to WW 2. I have no physical documentation on this particular revolver but I did meet a retired town...

I am not a historian nor do I play one on television but you might be surprised at the number of old time lawmen/city policemen who carried a .32-20. There is a lot of punch in .32 WCF High Velocity...

I like it! If I was in your A/O I would be interested in that as I would like a Colt to go with my S&W 32-20 is a real treat to shoot, especially in a revolver.

Very unlikely that a police department would be using 32-20 caliber

I believe the purpose of the upper serrated blade on the Ontario fixed blade SHOOTER 13 posted is for cutting through the aircraft “skin” to escape if needed.
