Straycat23 liked post by Scharfschuetzer On thread : Ellison rear sights on Python
During my police career I used a 6" Python with Elliason sights. I only used it in the service revolver class for PPC competition and eventually replaced it with a PPC sighted (extra high front...

Basically some came straight out of the Custom Shop with the Elliason Patridge sights … possibly many were built with standard sights and refitted before leaving the factory … and many were sent back...

Straycat23 liked post by sublimert70 On thread : Colt Trooper MkIII vs Python
The responses you’ve received address the visual and mechanical differences. Personally, what I really notice is the “feel” of the action. The Python, for me, is so smooth compared to the Trooper. ...

These are two totally different designs with only the Colt name in common. No parts can interchange between the models, and the frames and actions are totally different. The Python was the last...

Straycat23 liked post by dfariswheel On thread : Colt Trooper MkIII vs Python
The first Officer's Model made from 1904 to 1908 used the old Colt New Army & Navy model as the basis. Beginning in 1908 all Colt medium frame revolvers, including the Officer's Models used the...

Straycat23 liked post by SnidelyWhiplash On thread : Colt Trooper MkIII vs Python
The old Officers Model used the same action as the Python, Army Special, Official Police and original Trooper. All using this action had a clockwise cylinder rotation...as do the Mark III revolvers.

Just use a hard wood, walnut, maple, oak etc and make your own. I like walnut and oak. Just as no shape fits all SAA grip frames the spacers need to be fitted to the aft corner and bear on the butt...

No one makes them commercially. I cut and render quite a few each year for Uberti grip jobs, would you like one?

That sounds like a beauty. How about some pics? Ballistol for cleaning maybe? I don't think you'll want to use a bore brush just tight fitting patches.

Straycat23 liked post by saintclair On thread : Cleaning bore and cylinders of a silver plated engraved Colt SAA
Ideally, when the Colt was originally plated, the bore was sealed off such that it did not receive the silver plating. If it did, I see no problem with using brass brushes when cleaning it. ...
