    Some of the contemporaneous advertisements for the Savage pistols were quite interesting, and probably wouldn't pass muster today. My female gun-owning friends find them hilarious, though.

    647271647273 Found some other pictures. Pistol shows honest wear, no abuse. Mechanically tight and in good condition. Shoots well. Would not feel "unarmed" while carrying it.

    646709 Ruger Mark IV Hunter again. That Ruger flat out shoots lights out. The below group is 10 shots at 25 yards. The dot is one inch. Ammo is CCI MM HP. Shot from a rest, naturally. 646711

    The Savage does not have an hammer. It's striker fired. What appears to be an hammer is only a cocking device. It's in fact more "hammerless" than the Colt 1903 which has a concealed hammer.

    If loading our own, 38 Super Brass is the identical Cartridge, and perfectly alright to use it...it is a lot easier to find too. If not comfotable with possible confusions, then of course do not use...

    I am a big fan of Red Dot. I use it as may pet load for the 38 ACP along with Rainer 130 gr. RN plated bullets which are very cost effective and accurate to shoot. I don't have any problems metering...
