He probably didn't realize the rarity of not only the gun itself but the entire package being in superb condition and box! I would have plunked down the $1k if I couldn't trade for it or negotiate...

I have had that conversation with Dave Lanara and you would enjoy talking with him as well. A true restoration will be new inside and out. A shortened original barrel in good enough condition worth...

Give your son or grandson, whoever you meant to post in your #8 post above, a shooter. If the 2nd gen is the only gun he has, he'll shoot it. Give it to him later when he understands the concept of...

I bet the colt on the right side grip of the 45 Auto faces backwards. Because since the 1920s, left side medallions are used on both sides. Nutmeg is the only place I know of that sells original...

I agree, the 2nd type bordered checkering without the extra line in front. I've seen a couple of 1st gen hammers repaired this way back in the day; the lower 1/3 of hammer base with notches is...

Just "minor wear" (smile). It looks like the the bottom 1/3 of hammer with notches was sliced off thru the centers of the hand and cam holes. Coloring looks like heat coloring, not CCH.

I agree, clearly genuine Stag. Not real prime cuts but as good or better than most available today. Not sure they're an original matched set though. Or the original owner was left handed and the left...

Can't tell you what the top pair fit, look like N frame S&W. But the screw hole location is not at all normal. They are both Stag. The top pair have the mellow gold aging of Sambar Stag. The...
