I have avoided the SAA disease for quite a while...but when a nice shooter 2nd gen popped up on a local gun trading forum I could not resist. It was a 5 1/2" nickel in .357 and was the caliber and...

charlene liked post by SFC Rick On thread : Going to get another SAA.
After years of me asking the LGS to get me a new Colt SAA in .45Colt with a 5.5" barrel he calls me late Saturday. He always said he hasn't seen a new production Colt in many years. So after he gets...

For me it would be a 1st Gen gun, caliber on the side of the barrel. If a 4 3/4" gun, a two line address roll mark. And arguably not for every one, both the tiny V notch sights and cross pin frame....

I'm not that "in" on the SAA's desirable eras, but my choice would be a Model P1840, .45 Colt, 4 3/4 inch barrel, blue with color case hardening, made in the 1930's when Colt's quality was at the...

charlene liked post by Prowbar On thread : 2Fg vs 3Fg in black powder SAAs
Interesting, it seems that the 5 1/2 inch barrel has enough length to burn all the powder. The 4 3/4 lacks a bit, so you lose about 10% velocity. Maybe the military wasn't too crazy cutting the...

That sounds like a great box display CHIZ, Here,s one I fixed up a few years ago with one of my old Colts, I change it when I find some other old west do-dads, I guess I'll never grow up.

That box and the labels look a lot like the reproduction ones that are being made in China. Also, the pictures are of such poor quality that one cannot determine if the gun has been buffed and...

The frame certainly has that cyanide case color look about it.

GunPrime (Guns International) and Birmingham Pistol(Gun Broker) seem to be the same outfit... If not they have the exact guns for sell at the exact same time. Several of these guns were purchased at...

I bought several SAA guns from them recently. Might have bought a couple more if they had been at all attentive. Who ever is running the place knows what they are doing. I have no doubt in my mind...

Great acquisition! That will make one fun project. Looking at your images, I don't think the cylinder is original to the frame and bbl.; it seems in much better condition, and the bevel on the...

Wow, that's FUGLY! That reminds me of Fender's Relic series of guitars. They take a beautiful, brand new Stratocaster and distress it to look like it's spent decades strapped to a drunk picker with a...
