I am always compelled to speak up whenever this topic surfaces........
If you conduct a search for topics including addiction, you will see that although the condition is impulsive and sometimes presents a challenge to those afflicted.
However, the condition cannot be correctly categorized as addiction. In fact, it is a fairly common affliction that is easily managed with simple therapeutic modalities, the most common being acquisition of Colts on a scheduled basis, that you establish with your therapist. Often your therapist is the guy you see in the mirror each morning. Let your conscience be your guide; there are no rules.
Time utilized on this forum is also abundantly helpful.
The key here is not to effect a cure in the conventional sense, but to manage a condition with respect to an individual's needs and means.
There has been a lot posted on here over the years, and there is assistance available.
Nobody needs to quit or die; only exercise some restraint. If successful, there will be more cost effective opportunities down the line.
    This is fact.
This is the voice of experience.
I know I am not alone.
    I ain't crazy.
    Not yet, anyway........

ei8ht's recommendation is effective for general application:
This is one of my 'treatment box'. It contains considerable therapy.

(He ought to know...he has been treating the condition independently for a very long time.)
