    Hi and a question

    Hi All
New member here from Colorado. I have a 1979 Python. Any idea what would cause the wear around the edge of front of cylinder?

First...welcome! It's a bit difficult to tell but the edge wear could be from being holstered and unholstered a lot or it might actually be some lead buildup that could be cleaned off.

Hi and welcome to the Colt Forum. Is there any lead build-up on the forcing cone of the gun? I could not get the photo to enlarge but it surely looks like the edge is adversely impacting on something rough.

It's in an unusual spot for holster wear. If the rest of the gun has no edge wear, I wouldn't worry about it. Could have been someone trying to clean lead from the cylinder face TOO much. Like with steel wool or emery paper.
