Picked up my CMP pistol today. Look very nice at first glance. It is a ‘44 Remington Rand. In the 1924xxx range. Has been reparked as the USG property is faint as well as all the other lettering. Has checkered MSH, trigger that I am sure of and maybe the mag release. The slide stop is more blue than parked and is serrated instead of checkered so I don’t think that is correct. This is all at first glance at the LGS. I don’t have it here in bed with me as I write this so I’m going off memory. It did come in a nice pelican type case with foam and all the usual stuff. I haven’t broken it down for a more in-depth look but may do so tomorrow and post some photos. Btw my RNG number was 3894.
I think I’m pretty lucky to have gotten this as it is very much, by my research, matching. I’ve been seeing on other forums that others have been getting the “frankengun” variety.

Your hammer is Colt, your MSH is Ithaca and your slide stop is a post-WWII part. But as already stated, parts were parts during the rebuild process. I'm glad you like your pistol and thanks for sharing the pictures.
Edit: I forgot to mention you stocks are Colt on one side, Keyes Fibre on the other and your magazine appears to be postwar production, or possibly just refinished. Does the magazine have any markings?
FYI- in whatever configuration you got this, it was 'all correct', since that was the way it was rebuilt and refinished.
No attempt was made to keep individual weapons together - they were stripped, inspected and sent on to be refinished and marked, then either stored or shipped to a gaining unit.
I had an entire circular rack of these, and also had M3A1s and M2s - same depot - same color.
From the weakness of the lettering it appears to have been through multiple rebuilds. As df6 indicated, no attempt was made to keep original parts together during rebuild, so matching slides and receivers are just happen chance.
The faintness of the lettering is what I noticed first as I picked it up. Expected. Remington Rand slide and frame was a big thing for me. Additional correct parts was the bonus. Not sure if I would be happy with it otherwise. Definitely a shooter/ beater if that was the case but now maybe a shooter. Very happy, nonetheless.
Glad you got one you are happy with. A lot of guys expected to get matching frame and slide and instead got mix-masters. I was lucky enough to get a matching 43 Colt which is what I wanted but I would have been happy with anything.
I also was lucky in the CMP lotto and drew a 10-1944 Colt up and down 1911A1. Can't wait to pick it up next weel. Planning to shoot the you know out of it. RH.
Just in case you're contemplating installing the parts, the piece is now, and has been a rebuild, and no amount of 'all-Colt' parts will ever change that fact.
For purely personal reasons I’m replacing parts with correct parts. The slide stop isn’t even the same color as the rest so that’s got to go. If I don’t like the looks of my guns, I’ll make them pleasing to me and don’t really care about what anyone else says, and I don’t care about collector value. By the time they will be collectable, I’ll be long dead and past caring. Life is short and it’s all about me nowadays, but thanks for commenting.
I've mailed my money in a few times on the CMP lottery. I received some nice specimens and some not so nice specimens. But they were all USGI.
I would leave it as you received it, not change any parts out, and just enjoy shooting it. Also, put the certificate in a safe place in case you ever decide to sell it.
I almost had a dog in the race. But decided there were too many hoops to jump through and didn't want to spend the money they were asking for them at the time.
My mild OCD will not let me keep the offending part on the gun. That aggression will not stand. I don’t worry about resale. I never sell anything but all the swag that came with it, stays in the case.
I was lucky in the CMP Lotto as well. I received a Colt 1944 lower with Ithaca slide. My plan is to keep it as received from CMP. To each their own. Tell you what though the old girl is as tight as all get out. Very happy.
