Just fitted my Colt SAA with Genuine Sambar Stag Grips...

====================================

Sambar (Cervus unicolor unicolor) male, Kanha National Park, MP, India

====================================

The Sambar (Rusa unicolor) is a large deer native to the Indian subcontinent, Southern China, and Southeast Asia.

The large, rugged antlers are typically rusine, the brow tines being simple and the beams forked at the tip, so they have only three tines. The antlers are typically up to 43 inches long in fully adult individuals. As with most deer, only the males have antlers.

The shaggy coat can be from yellowish brown to dark grey in color, and while it is usually uniform in color, some subspecies have chestnut marks on the rump and under parts. Sambar also have a small but dense mane, which tends to be more prominent in males. The tail is relatively long for deer, and is generally black above with a whitish underside.

Adult males possess an unusual hairless, blood-red spot located about halfway down the underside of their throats.

Here are my Sambar Stag Grips on a .45 Long Colt Uberti, liked the fit and finish and quality of the Uberti that I bought an engraved one both of which came through Taylor’s Engraving, which led me to the pair of Navy Arms Revolvers with a deep dark royal blue on the barrel and cylinder plus lots of case color on the frame not to mention great looking grips. Supposedly this pair of guns were put together at the factory especially for the Owner of Navy Arms several years ago and received Action and Trigger Jobs and are in .357\.38 Cal. For accurate and economical shooting if you wanted,

First, I want to say that I'm glad you didn't add the Colt Medallions to the Sambars. Hope I don't offend anyone who has Sambar Stags with Medallions, but IMO, without is a better look. Second, I just hope my SAA will look near as good as yours after a dozen years of shooting. A very well cared for Colt. Kudos. Third, I was hoping to find my first SAA with Sambar Stags, but some folks I know have told me to leave the Factory Wood alone and get Stags for your next SAA. Sound advice?
Anyway, a great look with the Sambars.

Yea J.L., I prefer the clean, natural look myself...and it has been just plain ole' luck that both the Sambar Stags and the Elephant Tusk Ivory panels on my Gold Cup National Match were sans medallions.

And the same is true of my Ruger Bisley Vaquero which wears natural Bison Horn stocks yet no medallions.

Now the Resin+S(chreger line) synthetic stocks I have on my Model M1908 Pocket Hammerless does sport silver Colt medallions that fit in quite nicely with the roarin' 20's era theme it projects.
