I’m glad that Colt has brought the Python back, but I really want the Diamondback. They already have the small frame. It would probably be in .357, but I would just as soon have it in .38. Just thinking.
Colt already makes what is essentially a .357 Diamondback in the new King Cobra Target.
That's a small frame 4 inch barrel model with adjustable sights, other then the caliber..... basically a Diamondback.
Colt could make a Diamondback .22 as their deluxe rimfire revolver on the Cobra frame...and make a fixed sight .22 Cobra with a 3" barrel like they used to as a fine backpacker's piece.
But Colt hasn't asked me for my opinions or ideas.
AWESOME gun!!!!! a friend of mine had one like yours but in .22LR caliber. during the 90´ we used this gun, and mine , a S&W Model 17 full underlug 6" barrel to hunt jackrabbits and quails!!!!, both guns were very accurate!!..Thanks for sharing pictures!!
Best Regards
RR
I think they'll put a vent rib on the Cobra and offer it in .22 LR sooner or later. Well, actually, it'll be later because I'm sure Colt's employees are falling behind at work like the rest of us.
It seems like there is no rhyme or reason to colt. I’m sure there was no demand for a 3” fixed sight king cobra yet it came before the python. All they have to do is add a vent rib and adjustable sights to the cobra and I’ll take it.
Diamondbacks are one of coolest looking Colts for sure and about half production numbers of pythons. If wanting it to shoot, then just buy one of the most overlooked Colts ever, the Officers Model in 38 or 22. The 22 mag not so overlooked... They are one of the best Colts ever made and shoot like a house a fire!
I wish they would have made the 22 Diamondback in SS. I had both a 38 and 22 but sold them in the early 90's as well as my Pythons that were blued. Went all SS ---- out of all of them miss the 22 the most. Replaced with a SS Kit Gun. Smaller but was not the same.
