    Your Favorite WW2 Rifles

    Kind of a spin off from the WW1 thread. I love rifles from the WW2 era, would love to see photos of your favorites.
    Any country, any caliber. To start, here are a few of mine.

    Top to bottom: Remington 1903A3, German K98k, Winchester M1 Garand207.jpg

    When growing up the TV Series "COMBAT" was a big hit, in my young mind Sgt. Saunders was the guy I wanted to be. So this would put the;

    Thompson

    on my list, although I do not have one I did have a M1927A1 Semi Automatic. Now back to "COMBAT" and watching Kirby blast away with a:

    Browning Automatic Rifle

    puts a BAR on my list too.

    M1
    M1903
    M1903A3

    We do not have a Mauser k98 in military configuration put these are nice rifles too.

    The top two favorite WWII rifles I have are an all original never refinished M1 Garand dated 12-42 and a Johnson 30-06 rifle. I have many others including an all matching 1940 K-98 and many Arisakas. The Garand is just plain classic while the Johnson is very unusual and different. The Johnsons saw very little use by the US and most stayed warehoused for the duration of the war. I also have a couple of 03-A4 rifles. One is an arsenal rebuild still with it's original DCM shipping box and label from the early 1960s. The other is a never rebuilt gun that was most likely never issued. There really are too many neat rifles from WWII to pick from.

    I have a Garand and it's my favorite rifle of WWII. my favorite carbine is the M1 carbine and I own one of those. My favorite subgun is the M1 Thompson and I own one of those. My favorite handgun is the Colt 1911 and I own one of those.

    I love history, the hero's and their tools that are what got us here today. I take my tools out to get the feel of what men of those days carried. I knew some of those men and admired them greatly. I bring out my FILs knife he carried in the Navy for the 4 years he was in the fight and his useing it to rescue a downed pilot floating in the waters of the D day landing.

    All the guns are my favorite of WWII simply because of their history.
