    Welcome to the forum, after you shoot the python you will find out that there's not much else that really compares to it.

    Pretty sure the grips aren't original as the medallions appear silver and the half moon's were gone by 1976. Great looking shooter none the less!

    Thanks for the info. I’m new to Pythons but have never forgotten standing in a gun store in Silver Spring Maryland 41 years ago thinking about how bad I wanted one. Now I’m a big kid with more pocket change.

    Here are some IPhone pics of the grips. The medallions are definitely silver colored. The serial number of the gun appears to almost be burnt into the inside facing grip.

    Have my Eezox and Renaissance Wax on the way. I will also be picking up a Galco Miami Classic shoulder rig. Thanks for everyones encouragement and help.

    Well ...... I finally took it to the range today so I could do daylight and low light qualifying in order to carry. Gun shoots great. I don't want to start an oil war like I've seen on my car club sites but I thought it was better than any Smith & Wesson I've owned/fired. Nice trigger and very accurate. However, we are only allowed to carry +P ammo so I have not fired any magnum rounds yet.
