Agreed. I’m not as knowledgeable as others but there’s something definitely different about the side plate and the verified stamp. My initial reaction is the side plate was re-blued or, worse, not original. Looks nothing like my ‘78 6 inch Python, ‘81 NIB 8 inch Python Target or ‘81 8 inch Python 357. I would run the other way unless someone could educate me on the significant difference in the bluing.

Yes, strange sideplate appearance, strange marking in the VP location on that one, and the infamous Z stamping on the right side near the edge of the grip. The Z stamp has been used by Colt in the past to refence being sold as used gun with no warranty. This could mean a Show Gun or factory display but the Archive Letter doesn't say anything about that. Very strange piece indeed.

I would say from the condition of the pins on the left side that the guns been reblued at the very least.

Looks like the pins holding the front sight blade are proud of the base and burred.

Looks like only remnants of final inspectors ID on left rear of triggerguard. Appears to have been K.

The seller also stole the description of the Python history from the article I wrote for the Colt Fever web site.

I just sent a contact to him calling him on it.

I have bought 3 guns from this seller in the past. I think he sells collections for people.
