If Colt still has their stocking dealer program then those dealers will probably get product before non-stocking dealers. It's probably considered a perc of participating in the program. It may also have to do with the distributors who have a long history with Colt as well as with the retail stores. Basically...they take care of distributors and dealers that take care of them.

    2) "We received three, sold them all, will get more (unknown when) and will add you to the list - there are about thirty ahead of you". This shop required a small deposit and ran the paperwork for a background check along with an actual purchase I made. Deposit was completely refundable if I changed my mind.

Both stores have a good selection of new firearms and have ranges attached.
It really depends on who the main distributor is for that particular store and how many the distributor got in. They then get divided up between the sales reps and those reps give them to their best customers.

One thing is absolutely sure, fair or not, “early“ 2020 pythons will always hold a stigma now. I definitely plan on getting one or two at some point to go along with my existing Snakes but there’s no way I’m touching one with an early serial number. This may be unfair but it is what it is. I feel bad for people who are paying premium prices for what they perceive as a “collectible”.

I've never cared for the relatively new stainless Pythons. By that I mean the legacy ones. When I was in the Navy in the early 80s I got a Colt catalog because I was deciding what to get when I got out. They had nickle or maybe it was stainless Pythons. I thought that if I ever got a Python, and I was not into the vent rib and all at all...it would be in blue. Today, I have a blue original. I think having a new one in stainless would be ok. I'd probably polish it myself to a blazing, mirror sheen, with some Mothers. The new one would be something to whip out at the range and blind all the competitors with, from it's reflections.

I believe that’s a carbon copy of what I hear as well.

Apparently not all distributors received pythons again later, after sending them back in December.. I don’t know how the distribution.. and then the redistribution was determined of course .
The few thousand they did have .. whoever they went to, WENT and went quick.

I keep telling folks... “Hey . You don’t want this new python. .. let me buy it and keep you from making a mistake that you’ll regret.”

I showed this particular shop owner the pic of my pythons muzzle today.... he said “SO ?? i will take every Python they can send me.”

First time back since page 120 so I figured I'd start at the end and read backwards. Man there's some nutty stuff in there..............

I’m sure 99% of this first run are just fine. I’m just saying that with all the bad press they’ve gotten, there’s a stigma to them now. At least there is for me
