Happy New Year! Starting 2020 with a "Bang" .44 Magnum style

Range trip this morning, my first of 2020. Range really quiet this morning, just me and the mice. I have a personal tradition that I've been continuing for several years and that is to start the new year with a .44 Magnum (S&W Model 29-2). It's really the only time I shoot it unless a friend or relative wants to try it out. I've never really shot it very well, but it is a fun revolver to shoot. Lot's of flinching, and some big fireballs was my contribution to the New Years fireworks celebration at the club. I hope everyone has a healthy and prosperous 2020!! Robert

For new years I took out my newest two guns! A 1959 Winchester 69A with a 'baby Redfield', and my "new to me" 1961 Python. After almost getting my 2WD F-150 stuck in a mud puddle, I pulled aside and parked, and walked the 1/4 mile to my shooting spot. Nice little walk, carrying guns made before I was born. Shooting them was a pleasure, I had done some .38 Spl reloading over the holidays, but knew the range was closed. So I couldn't check my loads on paper, but just spent 45 minutes doing what I always did since I was a boy - plinked, alone, with my thoughts and guns. Fun.

Glock 19X. Not the most attractive pistol but enjoyable to shoot and accurate almost to a fault.

I took three 22s to the range. First my S&W Single Shot Perfected Target III. Also took my very early Woodsman which someone modified with a later 4 inch barrel. Finally a highly modified and scoped Ruger Mark II with a ten inch barrel. Never got around to shooting the last one.

Gotta love a single shot pistol, very cool. I keep trying to buy a Stevens, but can't find the right one/price for me.

I just came in from the wood's, About 8 inches' of crackling snow and ice!
    I fired 56 round's of 9mm thru my Sig P228!
Its a real shooter! at 25 yard's I can all most put bullet's in the same hole!
P228 and my Colt lightweight commander are my two main carry firearm's
    I enjoy both. 9mm or 45acp,whatever mood I'm' in!

I shot my new Ruger Mark IV Standard after installing a Volquartsen Accurizing Kit. What a difference it makes! The trigger pull was reduced do from 4# to between 1.5# and 1.75#. Being cold, very windy, and damp, I only fired my 7 loaded magazines. It was definitely sending the golf balls into orbit today. Must have been the cold making the balls stiffer.

I previously installed the Volquartsen Kit in my Mark IV Hunter. It made a big accuracy improvement in it, also.

Off to the club range this morning with my newly attached Bushnell TRS-25 Red Dot on a Weaver #62 mount onto my S&W Model 41 7" barrel. Very easy to sight in it was pretty much right there, just a couple of clicks on the windage and elevation turrets and it's zeroed. Nice optic, very reasonably priced and so far I'm impressed!

Nice shooting. I’m wondering if you have had a chance to compare the TRS-25 to a Sig Romeo 5? I know sooner or later I’ll have to replace the cheap mini tube red dot on my Mark IV Hunter. I wish I knew a stocking dealer within driving distance so I could check out the UltraDot MatchDot.

Hard to complain about rain in central NY in January so I just kept my mouth shut and did some bullet casting
    casting.jpg
.54 cal. 545 gr for the Sharps and .311 cal. for the flintlock

but I did get out the other day with my .22 short High Standard Flite King
