Yes I have the book and know the difference, hard to tell from the photos but it does have the beveled shoulder. Proof once and for all this is a .38 S&W special chambered first gen Colt.

Condition and rarity is the key for for the SAA. Average to poor condition guns are not good investments imho but rare and high condition examples will also command high prices.
