Looks like cyanide hardening to me
Newest ones that I’ve seen are marked “Colt Single Action Army [caliber]” with everything spelled out
I hope this isn’t too off topic but thought I’d share. I had the day off of work and got to spend it with my 3 1/2 year old son.
I recently bought my 1st SAA-a nickel 4 3/4 45 and an old Heiser...
Thanks for the perspectives and education. It is very interesting how these are valued. I sense that the intersection between those collectors most interested in the historical aspect vs those...
What about this?
I should clarify a type 1 as per Kopec with all mismatched numbers and 5 1/2” bbl
What would it take for an Artillery model to legitimately be a fair deal at this price? I look forward to hearing comments
I’m certainly no expert either. I wonder if someone simply daubed some white paint to fill the lettering and wiped off the excess. I’ve seen that done on other makes to highlight the lettering, etc....
This thread gives me pause as a young(er) (44), new collector. I’m looking to build a core collection of Colt SAAs, but as the more senior of us sell off their collections, it seems better and better...
Don’t know if there’s anything better, but I was told to run a patch liberally greased with RIG down the bore and would keep out of direct sunlight to keep the case colors from fading. (You may also...
Yes I saw that too and thought it was a great touch myself
Saw your thread looking for valuation. I’m in Amarillo but not sure when I’ll be in DFW next. I’m a buyer for the stag grips if you want. Based on those posts I’ll say $375 if you want?
One sold 9/8 for $2526 and this one at 2650. Both reported to be nib in blue/cch and 4 3/4” bbls.
Seems like a fun round to plink with.
Apparently easier to find an earlier than late model
Was watching a blued/CCH one on GB dating to 2007 that disappeared today. Are these uncommon in their current iteration?
Depends on who you’re reading but a number of posts on various forums...
As an aside does anyone know what is the preferred starting point pistol wise for one of these engravings?
I would imagine a case hardened pistol would need to be annealed and then re heat treated...
Cozmo, thanks for the links. I called on the GI Bledsoe pistol but marked sale pending. Did you happen to catch the asking price on it? I would’ve loved to have had that one.
Re Puglisi—I haven’t...
Please message me if you have one you’d consider selling.
Hmmm. That’s good to know that it isn’t a CS pattern. I’m friendly with a world-class engraver but as I said it isn’t anything that I would commission. I’ll have to watch the secondary market. Love...
Everyone thanks for posting pictures and background. I’m not from a ranching family, in fact I’m a Virginian who married a girl from the Texas panhandle but always appreciated the history and...
I should add that while I’d like to find one this isn’t just a wtb. I’m interested in hearing more about them, seeing any pics from members, etc. Thanks!
Hi, anyone here have one or know of one for sale? Did these come out of the factory custom shop? I’d like to find one
Well I went ahead and bought this one. It will be nice addition to the 4 3/4” nickel/ivory one I just got. I think the colors are fine and the metal to metal fit looks as good as any and better than...
Please let me know if you have a 4.4” excellent to ANIB example. Both cylinders preferred but not deal breaker if not
Yeah it’s just weird. They’ve tied up a significant amount of inventory seemingly with little interest in selling. Will look elsewhere
