My 1st Colt SAA 1st generation 38 WCF

I have seen these gun on consignment for about 10 months now at one of my LGS.

It started at $1099 and went down to $899. This week it dropped to $599.

It is a shooter and it has been refinished in the past and aftermarket sights have been added. I love the grips.

There is something about the 4 clicks a COLT SAA makes that gets me smiling.

I went by and tried to haggle the price down but the owner was gonna stick to $599.

10 minutes later I walked out the with it for $648.42 after taxes.

Stopped at my other LGS and brought 38-40 ammo, not cheap.

I will be going this weekend to the range to try it out.

Looks like it could be a Christy-job going off that Micra rear.. that's my guess. Nice pick up nonetheless, oughtta be a great shooter

I would keep the grips and put on some plastic replacements and try to get your money back.

I'd be interested in seeing an image of the top of the frame, to see how they mounted the rear sight. Always interesting how some of these modifications were done back in the day when SAAs had little value.

    Best regards,
My opinion is free, and worth every penny of it.

Under all the modifications there’s still a Colt Single Action Army! I picked up my first one in 38-40 three or four months ago and it’s quickly becoming my favorite caliber. Good looking gun, enjoy!

Every now and again I can find a broken 1st gen SAA below $1000, but most of those end up with a bad hammer and lousy replacement grips. It sounds like the one you bought has a good hammer and grips that are worth almost 1/2 what you paid. Great deal!!
