    Is it factory nickel?

A factory nickel 2nd Gen is what I've been looking for. There's no Colt letter with this one so maybe I can afford it lol, if it's original. Picture 2 looks like sharp edges/ That makes me a little bit hopeful. I value you guys opinions. If I was holding it in my hands I "might" be able to tell.
I see that the grips don't fit perfectly. Is that the fit or shrinkage maybe?
    thanks

Looks like factory nickel to me, notice how sharp all the lettering appears. That's a valuable SAA since only 1500 in each barrel length were made, even fired I'll bet it goes a lot higher.

I dont see any of the usual clues that it was a re-nickel. The grips are jigged bone and not original, the original grips were probably a plain walnut two piece. Not too hard to find.

AM I understanding correctly that they only made 1500 nickel gen 2 with a 7 1/2 barrel? I have one made in 1973. I didn't realize that they are all on the rare side. I thought only the short barrels were made on the limited side.

Per Wilkersons' book only 1500 SAAs with nickel finish were produced in each barrel length, so 1500 4 3/4", 1500 5 1/2" and 1500 7 1/2".
