Interesting gun! It would be REALLY interesting if the engraving can be verified as done by the Colt factory (Custom Shop). The inlays in the frame and cylinder appear to be silver, if the lighting isn't throwing off my color sense. The grips and box are pretty nifty, too. Any markings inside the grips on the inside or on the trigger guard/back strap? The box is very good looking. Definitely worth checking with Colt on this gun.

Right. My qualifier was "if you omit the first zero" since Colt's finds no record, curiously enough, using the complete number.

Just an update, I received the authentication letter today from Colt. It was shipped to Automatic Distribution Corp - Houston, TX in May 1980. 1 gun in shipment.

And just like that a fascinating Colt disappears into the mist again, questions left hanging in the breeze. Sigh.
I am guessing no envraving was mentioned, but what an interesting piece.

    Sorry y’all!
    No engraving was mentioned.
I’m not sure what I gained by the letter but it is cool to have with the gun.
Anything you all see that i’m missing besides engraving?
