I would listen to Mr. Martin....,he knows what we all should do...
I would think some chemicals should loosen the finish...but never had to remove any...have use aircraft stripper on aluminum bike frames...not sure what to recommend for u...best to be careful with this...God Bless,John
I have blasted for years with many media's...if u decide that is what u want to do...just be very very careful ..it would be my last resort

Okay, enough please about the finish...Lol...I'll figure it out, and find a safe way to get it off which will not harm the Iron/Steel under it.

Let's instead, root around your Junk Boxes, and, find me the parts I need so I can buy them and keep rolling!

~ Back-Strap...Fore-Strap with Trigger Guard...Hammer...Hand...Mainspring...Screws for the Fore and Back Straps...Ejector Rod Housing and Plunger and Spring...uhhh, am I forgetting anything?

Also I need a new Cylinder Bushing to regulate end play - can I do that myself? Or is that something I would send it out to have done?

If Armi San Marcos, Uberti, et al parts will fit, I can live with those..!

Have you decided if you're going for a complete SAA or period correct gun?

Cylinder has fairly heavy 'finish' in the Bores, so that might be making it a little smaller in there...chamber ends, finish does not seem as heavy.

Barrel's Bore Groove-to-Groove, seems to be about .430

Good picture and caliper readings. It IS a 44-40!
